How to prevent Diabetes and foot infections and amputations?

1. Spend one minute daily to check your feet –

3. Foot hygiene –
Wash your feet regularly. Wipe gently with a soft cloth. Use Moisturizer on feet and legs. Coconut oil is usually considered safe and is easily available.
4. Avoid burning with hot water –
Avoid burning your feet. Dipping feet in hot water is definitely to be avoided.
5. Nail care –

6. Footwear –
Invest in footwear. Using appropriate footwear is by far the most effective method of preventing foot ulcers and infections. The best footwear for an average diabetic person in India is a sport shoe that is bigger by one size. Beware of the so called specialized, branded or customized shoes, specially made for diabetics. 7. Dressings –

8. Smoking –
Avoid smoking, or tobacco in any form. It has a bad effect on the blood flow to the feet and elsewhere.
9. Regular checkup at foot clinic –
You check your blood sugar, blood pressure, heart and kidney, and then why not check your feet as well.
10. Diabetes and general health –
Last but not the least, keeping your body healthy and taking necessary medical treatment for all medical problems including diabetes, kidney, heart, blood pressure, cholesterol goes a long way to prevent onset of foot complications.
